Neurodiverse & Additional Support Blood Draws
Gentle Draw provides calm, compassionate blood collection for children and adults who may benefit from additional support before or during a blood test.
We understand that healthcare appointments can feel overwhelming for some individuals, particularly those who are autistic, have a learning disability, sensory sensitivities, communication differences, health anxiety or previous difficult healthcare experiences.
Appointments are tailored to the individual and may include:
• Additional appointment time
• Familiarisation visits before the blood test
• Introduction to equipment and procedures
• Visual supports and talking mats
• Step-by-step explanations
• Sensory-aware communication
• Flexible pacing and breaks
• Parent, carer or support person involvement
• Reasonable adjustments to support comfort and cooperation
Familiarisation visits can help individuals become comfortable with the environment, equipment and practitioner before the blood test takes place. For some people, this can significantly reduce anxiety and improve the likelihood of a positive experience.
All appointments are delivered by an experienced Registered Children's Nurse and CQC-registered provider.
Our aim is simple: to provide safe, respectful and person-centred care that supports each individual in a way that works for them.
Because every person deserves access to healthcare that feels calm, inclusive and supportive.
